What to Expect

ISR lessons are designed to be short, consistent, and highly individualized so your child can build real, reliable skills in the water

A Typical Day

Each day, you’ll bring your child for a short, 10-minute lesson

Before we begin, I’ll check in with you using B.U.D.S (Bowel, Urine, Diet, and Sleep) to make sure your child is ready for their lesson

Lessons are one-on-one and fully focused
This allows your child to learn without becoming overwhelmed, while you stay nearby and watch as they build skills step-by-step

The First Few Days

  • The first few lessons are about adjustment

  • Your child is getting used to a new environment, routine, and expectations. It’s completely normal if they need time to settle in

  • Lessons remain calm, structured, and consistent as your child begins building trust and confidence

The First Week

  • During the first week, you’ll start to see small but meaningful progress

  • Your child will begin learning foundational skills and becoming more comfortable in the water

  • Each lesson builds on the last, creating a consistent and predictable routine

As Skills Develop

  • As your child progresses, you’ll notice increasing confidence and independence.

  • Infants learn to roll onto their back, float, and breathe.

  • Older children learn how to move through the water, rest to breathe, and continue toward safety.

  • Skills are built gradually and reinforced through daily repetition.

Clothing Practice

  • Once your child has developed their core skills, lessons will include practicing in clothing.
  • This helps your child experience the difference in movement and weight so they can respond more effectively in a real-life situation.
  • We also aim to mimic your child’s normal environment as much as possible. This may include everyday summer clothing, heavier items like jackets, or other items they typically wear. These variations help prepare them for real-world scenarios.

Your Role:

Your role is simple — be present and supportive.

During lessons, you’ll remain nearby while your child works directly with the instructor. This helps your child learn how to respond independently.

As your child becomes more skilled, you’ll have opportunities to safely practice together outside of lessons.

Consistency Matters:

Daily lessons are an important part of the process.

Consistent exposure helps build muscle memory and confidence, allowing your child to respond more naturally and effectively in the water.

Lesson Pricing

Private, one-on-one ISR lessons

• $140 per week (plus $105 ISR registration fee per child, paid directly to ISR)
• Monday–Friday
• 10 minutes per day
• Average program length: 6 weeks

Lesson times are reserved daily and structured to support consistent skill development.

Lessons are intentionally short, highly focused, and designed to build skills through consistent daily practice to support your child’s learning, safety, and confidence in the water.

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your child’s spot. Deposit is applied to your child’s first week of lessons.

A separate ISR registration fee of $105 per child is paid directly to ISR within 3 weeks of your start date. This allows their pediatric medical team to review and medically clear your child for lessons.

The Goal

Every child’s journey looks a little different, but the goal is always the same — helping your child develop the skills and confidence to respond safely in the water.
